Chinese cryptocurrency blogger and journalist Colin Wu has shared the results of a survey he conducted in January 2022 on crypto in the United States.
DOGE, SHIB, BTC, NFTs and Metaverse all win in Huobi US survey
According to the research, in which almost 3,150 participants took part, the top list of cryptocurrencies that Americans have heard of most often includes meme cryptocurrency Doge, Cardano’s native coin ADA, as well as Bitcoin, BNB, SOL, Ethereum and the USDT stablecoin.
Bitcoin is on the first place here (83.46%), DOGE is the holder of the second one (54.10%), followed by ETH (39.41%). SHIB is on the fourth place with 28.31%. Cardano’s ADA is at the back of the list with 13.07% of the respondents having heard about this crypto. Aside from that, US citizens have heard more about NFTs and Metaverse than DAO. 28 percent of the respondents said they have invested in digital currencies.

Huobi has exited the Chinese market
In the fall of last year, Huobi made a decision to withdraw from the Chinese market and shut down trading of cryptocurrencies against the CNY, by the end of the year. Deposits and spot trading was frozen in mid-December.
Many users of other regions, apart from the mainland China, remained unaffected by this move.
As a reminder, multiple cryptocurrency exchanges started mass exodus from the Chinese market after the Chinese government published a document in late September that declared all operations with cryptocurrencies illegal.
Prior to that, similar actions were taken against crypto miners and they began migrating from China to other locations – Canada, Kazakhstan and the US. Due to the recent unrest in Kazakhstan, higher gas tariffs, it is likely that miners will decide to leave for the US or other locations that offer friendly work conditions and cheap electricity to miners.
One of the reasons Bitcoin plunged during the temporary Internet shutdown in Kazakhstan was because the hashrate (the calculations used by miners to add more Bitcoins) dropped significantly.
